New President for Hunter Young Professionals

Hunter Young Professionals (HYP) debuts a new board this year, with a new President and six new Directors on the team. James Callender, from nib Health Funds, was elected to lead the board this year, and welcomed in a year of “innovation, conversation and connection”.

“I am very excited to welcome six new members to the board this year, who bring with them a wide range of skills that will, along with the offerings of the returning board, help us to enhance our events and organisation to ultimately benefit our members,” James said.

“The past two years has seen increased engagement throughout our network, including a strong social media following and significant growth in our database, and we endeavour to continue this trend in 2016.”

The 2016 executive team, who are all celebrating their third year representing HYP, also includes Hanna Barry from PKF Newcastle as Vice President, Alyssa Faith from the Catholic Schools Office as Secretary and Alex Nicolaidis from Booksmart Accounting Solutions in the role of Treasurer.

Non‚ÄêExecutive Directors for 2016 include 2015 Directors Matt Williams from JSA Financial Planning Group and Matt Clements from PRD Newcastle, along with newcomers Andrei Gromek from Impulse Cloud, Andrea Ciotti from the Hunter Academy of Sport, Akshay Chand from H&M Accountants, Patrick Stewart from McCullough Robertson, Daniel Velich from Lambourne Partners and Sarah Norday from APP.

“HYP’s events are designed to educate, inspire and make networking fun for our 20‚Äêto 35‚Äêyear‚Äêold demographic,” James continued.

“We look forward to hosting the annual events our members look forward to each year, as well as introducing some exciting new ones.”

Hunter Young Professionals provides opportunities for young people throughout Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, the Lower and Upper Hunter to network in a comfortable environment in which they are able to learn new skills, populate their network and enhance their own professional profile in the community. The organisation was originally formed as the Newcastle & Hunter Junior Chamber before being rebranded to Hunter Young Professionals in 2013.

HYP is supported in the Hunter community with sponsors including the University of Newcastle, Mezzanine, Kloster Mini Garage, The Greater Building Society, Forsythes Business Advisors, Helloworld Hunter Travel Group, JSA Group and McCullough Robertson Lawyers.
