Local businessman, Alex Mitchell, was recently named as the new President of Hunter networking group, Your Business Connections.
Your Business Connections (YBC) is an exclusive business networking organisation, which exists to promote the individual businesses of its members and provide expert advice to each member’s existing client base.
Alex, with his business partner Mark Neumann, has developed a successful construction business and a carved out a secondary niche granny flat construction brand within a very short period of time.
Alex says YBC has provided him with great opportunities to expand his business.
“I have been a member of YBC for a number of years and have really enjoyed the opportunity to meet new businesspeople and get a deeper understanding of the fantastic skill sets that exist in the Hunter region,” Alex said.
“The time was right to step-up and take some responsibility within YBC to help the organisation keep growing and thriving, so it can help other local businesses succeed.”

Alex is a Director of Nulex Construction, a commercial and residential building company based in Bennetts Green and it was only four short years ago that it was founded.
They complete a diverse range of projects including commercial buildings, hospitality projects such as clubs and pubs, office fit-outs and refurbishments, remedial building projects, and residential refurbishments and alterations. While they primarily complete work in Newcastle, Lake Macquarie and the Lower Hunter regions they also service the Central Coast and Sydney markets.
In addition, just over 18 months ago Backyard Grannys was also established, to focus on the booming granny flat niche market.
A passionate project of Alex’s, he has been the driving force behind the quirky and engaging Backyard Grannys brand and its resulting success.
Earlier this year Alex was also awarded the Excellence in Young Entrepreneurship Award in the Lake Macquarie Business Excellence Awards.
