Barr Property & Planning has welcomed two new members to the team, doubling the firm’s capacity.
Responding to an increased demand for planning and development services director Stephen Barr has announced the appointments of Project Planner, James McKee and Administration Manager, Joanna Andrew.
James McKee has a diverse background of experience and education having completed a wide range of courses within the construction and planning industries. He began his planning career at Armidale Dumaresq Council after being awarded a prestigious scholarship to work as a student planner (2010 – 2013). The annual award is presented to a promising undergraduate from the cohort studying at the University of New England.
James’s private sector experience includes working for a local surveying company before managing major planning projects valued between a half a million to 12 million dollars. His drive and competitive nature stems from a junior tennis career culminating in representing Australia and captaining the NSW Schoolboys team.
Joanna Andrew has a broad range of administration management skills having worked across a variety of sectors including government, manufacturing and distribution, hospitality, youth and charitable organisations.
Her background includes quality assurance and continuous improvement management along with strategic planning, finance, IT and human resources experience. Underpinned by a strong client service focus, Joanna’s extensive project management skills will further support BP&P’s steady growth and development.
Stephen says that since opening the doors to business in July last year, planning and project work in Newcastle and the region have continued to grow beyond expectations requiring additional resources to keep up with demand.
“There’s no doubt the high level of development activity currently underway has increased the need for planning services,” Stephen said.
“This is a rapid growth period for our city and region and an exciting time in the sector.”
