Recently launched community-based nursing and home support provider, Newcastle and Hunter Community Health, is bringing a new era of consumer-driven and localised care to the region, to help older people and people with a disability live their best life as independently as possible.
Newcastle and Hunter Community Health is a family owned and operated business established to provide personalised care to participants in the National Disability Insurance Scheme and aged care within the community, including Home Care Package recipients.
Managing Director Alison McQueen said at the heart of their business was knowing their clients and understanding their individual needs.
“We are small enough to know each individual and their family, yet big enough to provide optimum care to clients using our services to live as independently as possible,” Alison said.
“Our individualised assessment ensures we understand the personal health and lifestyle goals of each client and their family, and accommodate their cultural, religious, lifestyle choices and beliefs in the planning process.”
The Newcastle and Hunter Community Health team consists of Registered Nurses, Enrolled Nurses, Assistants in Nursing and professional staff who deliver tailored health care, clinical and personal care, community support and domestic services to their clients.
With the key goal of enabling clients to remain in their own home for as long as possible NHCH provide nursing, facilitate allied health and therapy services; nutrition, hydration, meal preparation and diet support; continence management; mobility and dexterity support; personal care services; management of skin integrity; and general household services.

“Sometimes, people forget that carers have individual needs too so whether it’s short-term, long term or a regular planned activity with the NDIS or Aged Care recipient, we always make respite for carers an integral part of our care plans.”
“We become a true partner in the care of our clients and their families, and feedback indicates our personal connection to the Newcastle and Hunter community provides a real feeling of trust.”

“The team at Newcastle and Hunter Community Health is committed to ensuring our clients feel safe, secure and independent in their home and continue to live a happy and fulfilled life doing the things they enjoy.”
